I am honored to welcome you and to join you all at this 30th Institution of
Engineers of Kenya 30th International Convention.
Over the years, the Institution has consistently organized annual international
conferences bringing
together engineers and other local and foreign stakeholders to deliberate issues
affecting the
engineering fraternity and providing engineering solutions to problems affecting our
communities. There
is a lot that goes into organizing
international conferences in terms
of financial resources, time, and
human resources. I therefore wish to
congratulate the IEK for successfully
organizing this Convention as an
individual engineer and on behalf
of the Engineers Board of Kenya in
my capacity as the Chairman of the
Board.
As a Board, we resonate with this year’s theme,‘Sustainable Engineering in the Era
of Climate
Change.’ Indeed, addressing climate change is a task that
calls for concerted effort from all
stakeholders. As a engineers, we
have a vital role to play toward
addressing climate change.
Sustainable engineering is the
way to go if engineers are to play
their role of providing engineering
solutions to problems affecting
our community to the problem of
climate change. Therefore, I wish
to urge all engineers and other
stakeholders participating in this
Convention to engage in fruitful
deliberations that will see us as engineers provide solution to the problem of
climate change
.
On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of the Board, I wish to appreciate
all our partners who work with us to ensure the socio-economic development
of our country through delivery of quality engineering infrastructure projects.
I appreciate the Government of Kenya, our development partners, sponsors,
and the engineers of Kenya for their selfless contribution towards delivery of
quality professional engineering services for our country.
I wish you all a successful Convention.
